Why Michelle Obama Is Skipping Trump’s Inauguration: Reports
Former First Lady Michelle Obama She is skipping the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump next week, reportedly to hide her disdain for the incoming president.

“She served the public and did everything she could as first lady for eight years,” Obama said at Trump’s inauguration in 2017. “You see her when she has a project or a cause to promote, but she doesn’t feel the need to be a public figure,” they continued.
Longtime allies of Michelle Obama also told The Hill that they believed her decision to skip the inauguration was an act of defiance.

It will be the second time in a week that Michelle Obama has canceled a meeting of former presidents and their spouses. Obama did not attend the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter last week with his wife, who sat next to Trump.
Her counselors told CNN’s Jeff Zeleny that she was not present at the funeral due to a scheduling conflict and that she was in Hawaii for an extended vacation.
The Obama Foundation did not immediately return a request for comment.

The news of Michelle Obama skipping Trump’s nomination comes after former first lady Melania Trump said she and her husband were not briefed by the Obama administration about her move into the White House in January 2017.
“The difference is, I know where I’m going. I know the rooms we live in. I know the procedures,” the former first lady told “Fox & Friends” co-host Ainsley Erhardt on Monday.
“The first time was a challenge, we didn’t have much information, the information was kept from us from the previous administration. But this time I have everything. I have plans. I could go in. I already booked. They already chose the furniture that had to go in. So this time for the second time. Time is a very different transition.”
