“The migrant ship began to sink shortly after the active crew had stopped sailing,” he wrote. “All persons aboard the sinking boat were safely removed and transported to CBP.”
The service, led by California’s Eleventh Coast Guard District, is deploying assets and personnel from across the country to support operations led by the Department of Homeland Security, according to a USCG statement.

The USCG flight operation transports illegal immigrants to designated locations in Texas and California, where the Department of Defense transports the immigrants from the United States, the statement said.
“In accordance with the President’s executive orders, the Coast Guard continues to increase its assets and use its unique capabilities to protect America’s borders, territorial integrity, and sovereignty,” said Adm. Kevin Lunday, chief of the Coast Guard.
Lunday said Saturday’s operation highlighted the Coast Guard’s coordinated efforts.
