Freshman Sen. Jim Justice began his first week on the job by warning that America is in “trouble” unless the nation fixes its energy policy. However, President-elect Trump has expressed his confidence in two of the candidates he has chosen to resolve the issue.

“You have to have an energy strategy, and you have to go on a path where America leads the world in energy,” he said. “Energy, to me, is the key to everything here, everything: it solves inflation. It prevents war – from Russia’s point of view, it solves absolutely everything – and with that, if we don’t get to that point. Seriously, we’re making a bad mistake in this country.”

Justice, a billionaire coal trader, emphasized at the Wright hearing that while it is important to pursue all forms of energy, it is not yet time to abandon fossil fuels.

“We need to embrace all forms of energy. But with that being said, when you completely believe that we can do without fossil fuels in this world right now, you’re living in a cave. You’re living in a cave,” he said. “In my opinion, we don’t need to blow our legs to control China or India in different ways.” Justice was then interrupted by an opponent.
