Minnesota Vikings First round pick JJ McCarthy posted a cryptic message on social media Monday night after the Minnesota Vikings suffered a tough loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the wild card round.

The Vikings went 14-3 during the regular season with Darnold at the helm. After a stint with the New York Jets and several backup roles, he seems to have resurrected his career.

But the playoffs were different.
As they battle for the top seed in the NFC, the Vikings are at Detroit Lions In Week 18, Darnold completed just 19 of 41 for 166 yards and no touchdowns. He was fired twice. Fast forward to Monday night, and the first-round draft pick showed no signs of improvement.
He finished 25 of 39 for 245 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the 27-9 loss. He was fired nine times.
“I didn’t play well enough the last two weeks,” Darnold said after the game.

But even more interesting than Darnold’s postgame admission were the comments made by backup quarterback JJ McCarthy.
The former Michigan quarterback, 10 overall pick, who won the national championship before being drafted by the Vikings, posted a cryptic message on X after losing to Minnesota.
“Amor Fati” he wrote.
A Latin phrase meaning “to love fate,” the mindset refers to the mindset applied to how one views life, whether it’s good or bad.

The post, which went viral on social media, may mean a lot to McCarthy.
After missing his entire rookie season with an injury and potentially returning as the Vikings’ rookie for the 2025 season, Darnold ends the year as a free agent after back-to-back losses.
