Venkatesh Prasad picks “Future Fab 4” in cricket; He was awarded the captaincy of Team India
Former Indian cricketer and former coach Venkatesh Prasad held a question and answer session with fans on his social media account X (formerly Twitter). Venkatesh Prasad discussed various topics with his fans including the future Fab Four in the Indian National Cricket Team.
Known for his candid views on Indian cricket on social media, Venkatesh Prasad has represented India in 33 Tests and 161 ODIs in his career. The former fast bowler has taken 292 international wickets, 96 of them in Tests at an average of 35, with seven five-wicket hauls and one 10-wicket haul.
The former cricketer has been prolific in ODIs, taking 196 wickets at an average of 32.31, including four four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul. After retirement, he served as India’s bowling coach from 2007 to 2009 and had coaching roles with IPL teams Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings.

During a question and answer session on social media, a fan asked Venkatesh Prasad about the “Future Fab 4” in cricket. Prasad responded by naming Yashasvi Jaiswal and Harry Brooke as the obvious choices.

The term “Fab Four”, coined by late New Zealand cricketer Martin Crowe, referred to Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Joe Root and Kane Williamson. These four players have been consistent performers in international cricket and are frequently compared for their batting prowess.
Venkatesh Prasad revealed the great batsman
Another fan asked Prasad to name the greatest batsman among Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara and Virat Kohli. Prasad responded with “Sachin”.

Sachin Tendulkar, known as the “God of Cricket”, holds the record for most runs in both Test (15,921) and ODI (18,426) formats. The former batsman also boasts of the most international centuries, with 100 to his name. Tendulkar is the only cricketer to have played 200 Test matches in international cricket.
Moving on might not be a bad idea – Venkatesh Prasad
When asked whether India will have separate captains for Tests and ODIs, Venkatesh Prasad said it might not be a bad idea going forward.
“Sir do you think India should have a separate test and ODI captain? #AskVenky,” asked one user.
“It might not be a bad idea to move forward,” Prasad said.
Rohit Sharma is the captain of both the ODI and Test teams. In the year 2024 He retired from T20I cricket after leading India to victory. It is worth noting that his future career is also uncertain as to how well he will perform. He opted for the fifth Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
