Indian U19 Women’s National Cricket Team player Vaishnavi Sharma made history in the U19 Women’s World Cup match against Malaysia’s U19 Women’s National Cricket Team. The match between the two teams took place on Tuesday (January 21) at Bayumas Oval in Kuala Lumpur.

Vaishnavi produced a magical effort with the ball and helped her team finish the opposition as a whole. She was all over the Malaysian batsmen as she destroyed the offense and took the hat-trick, becoming the first player from India to achieve victory in the tournament’s history.

Vaishnavi, who made her debut for the team, ensured that she set the stage on fire with her maiden outing. She started her spell with the wickets of Noor Dania Syuhada and Nuriman Hiadah and then did not look back as she claimed hat-tricks for Noor Ain Binti Roslan, Noor Isma Dania and Sethi Nazwah.

South Africa’s Maddison Landsman holds the record as the first bowler to take a hat-trick in the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup. She achieved the result in the team’s match against Scotland and finished with figures of 4/12 in 2023.

Along with Vaishnavi Sharma, Ayushi Shukla was also among the wickets. She picked figures of 3.3-1-8-3 and with her impressive efforts with the ball, the Indian Under-19 Women’s National Cricket Team bundled out the opposition for just 31 runs in 15 overs.

All guns blazing in pursuit of the target. Opener Gongadi Trisha remained unbeaten on 27 off 12 balls while G Kamalini remained unbeaten on 4. With the win, India’s Under-19 Women’s National Cricket Team topped Group A with four points and a net run rate of +9.148. .

Talking about her performance, Vaishnavi Sharma said it was a dream debut for her. She also stated that Radha Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja are her idols. Speaking after the game, she said:

“I dreamed of this hat-trick and a five-wicket haul. My journey has had its ups and downs. I’m looking up to Radha Yadav (India’s top left-arm spinner) and Ravindra Jadeja. Get wickets here last night.
