Ukraine says it has captured two injured North Korean soldiers in Russia.
Two wounded North Korean soldiers have been captured by Ukrainian forces as prisoners of war in Russia’s Kursk region, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced Saturday.
The two men are receiving “necessary medical assistance” and are under the supervision of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in Kiev, Zelensky said.
The president said “thank you” to the Ukrainian paratroopers and special operations forces who captured the North Koreans.
“It was not an easy task,” he said, adding that Russian and North Korean soldiers often killed wounded North Koreans to “destroy any evidence of North Korea’s involvement in the war with Ukraine.”
In a statement posted on Telegram and X, Zelensky said that the soldiers are “talking with SBU investigators” and instructed journalists of the Security Service of Ukraine to reach them.
“The world needs to know the truth about what is happening,” he added.
Zelensky posted photos of two wounded men but did not provide evidence that they were North Korean.

Some reports claim that Russia is hiding North Korean fighters by giving them fake IDs.
In December, the South Korean intelligence agency reported A North Korean soldier believed to have been caught supporting Russia’s war in Ukraine has died After being taken alive by Ukrainian forces.
Separately, the White House stated that North Korean troops were inflicting heavy casualties.
