Two senior Iranian judges have been shot dead at the country’s Supreme Court, state media reported.

Justices Ali Razini and Mohammad Moghiseh were killed after an armed man entered the courtroom in the capital, Tehran, on Saturday morning, according to the judiciary news website Balance.

It is said that the assailant fled the scene and killed himself. A security guard was reportedly injured in the attack.

In a statement to the state news agency, the Judiciary Media Office called the attack a deliberate killing.

Judiciary spokesman Asghar Jahangir told Iranian state TV that the assailant entered the court with a gun before opening fire.
