Trump signed a full and unconditional pardon for the creator of the Silk Road, Ross Ulbricht

President Donald Trump on Tuesday signed a full and unconditional pardon of Ross Ulbricht, founder of the anonymous marketplace website, which the president promised to do “on day one” on the campaign trail.

“In honor of my own strong supporter of her and the libertarian movement, I called Ross William Ulbright’s mother to let her know that I am happy to sign a full and unconditional pardon for her son Ross.” Trump wrote on social media on Tuesday. “The swindler who got him convicted was a modern-day lunatic who was armed with state weapons. He got two life sentences, 40 years. Ridiculous!”

The website Ulbrich was convicted of was founded in 2011 and used cryptocurrency for payment to sell illegal drugs, even though he himself did not sell any illegal substances.
