WASHINGTON, D.C. — A “wave of change is sweeping the country,” President Trump told Americans in his inaugural address Monday, as the United States ushered in a “new era of national achievement.” They stated that they have “good hope” and announced the country’s success. “The decline is over.”

Trump addressed the nation on Monday after being sworn in for a second term as the 47th President of the United States.

“America’s Golden Age Begins Now,” Trump declared in his inaugural address. “From this day forward, our country will once again flourish and be honored throughout the world, we will be the envy of every nation, and we will not allow ourselves to be taken advantage of anymore.”

“I will simply put America first every day of the Trump administration,” Trump said.

“America’s sovereignty will be restored, our security will be restored. The balance of justice will be redressed. The barbaric, violent and unjust weaponization of the Justice Department and our government will end. And our top priority will be to create a proud, prosperous and free nation,” Trump said.

Trump has vowed not to use the government to track political opponents, something he is familiar with, citing the Biden administration’s crackdown on immigration.

But first, we must be honest about the challenges we face, Trump said. When they are many, they will be destroyed by this great movement that the world is witnessing now in the United States of America.

But in his first public address as the 47th president, the president said, “Our government has a crisis of confidence.”

“My election is a mandate to undo the recent terrible betrayal and all these many betrayals and to restore the people’s faith, wealth, democracy and indeed freedom from this moment. America’s recession is over,” Trump said.

Trump will take more than 200 steps on the first day

The president’s comments were made Monday from the Capitol Rotunda in the nation’s capital because of the arctic blast. Freezing temperatures forced the opening ceremony to be moved indoors for the first time in four decades.

Trump, who won the Electoral College and the popular vote, has now defeated former Vice President Kamala Harris by a landslide, promising that his second administration will usher in a “golden age of America.”

Trump was running against President Biden, who was up for re-election, until July 2024. But after the two debated for the first time and after Biden’s disastrous performance, the incumbent was pressured by Democratic insiders to end his presidential bid. .

Biden announced in a social media post and endorsed Harris to be the Democratic presidential candidate in his place, moving the vice president to the top of the ticket.

Biden’s decision to drop out comes just days after the Republican National Convention (RNC) concluded, and Trump and running mate Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, officially endorsed the GOP nominee.

But he survived an assassination attempt at a July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, just days before Trump accepted the Republican nomination. During the event, Trump was showing a chart showing how illegal immigration has increased under the Biden-Harris administration. As he turned to the table, he was shot in the upper part of the right ear by the now dead killer, Thomas Matthew Crooks.

Weeks later, in September, another assassin hid himself in bushes at the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida. The gunman, Ryan Wesley Root, had an AK-47-style assault rifle pointed at Trump through the fence while playing golf. Trump was escorted off the golf course by US Secret Service agents unharmed.

Trump reflected on his near-death experiences and unprecedented trials and legal battles in the 2024 campaign cycle.

“Over the past eight years in our 250-year history, I’ve been tested and challenged more than any president, and I’ve learned a lot along the way. The journey to reclaim our republic has not been easy. I can tell you that those who want to end our cause have tried to take my freedom and my life,” he said. “A few months ago, in a beautiful field in Pennsylvania, an assassin’s bullet tore my ear.”

He added: “But I felt then and believe even more now that my life was saved for a reason. I was saved by God to make America great again.”

Trump is expected to take more than 200 executive actions on his first day in office – policy priorities focused on border security, energy, reducing the cost of living for American families, ending DEI programs in the federal government. And others, Fox News Digital Only reported.

On his first day in office, Trump promised to roll back the policies of his predecessor. Trump ends “catch and release”; Pause all offshore wind leases; Termination of electric vehicle orders; Canceling the Green New Deal; Withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement; and take several major steps to ensure presidential control over the federal bureaucracy.
