Three McDonald’s in Texas are closing CosMc’s a year after they opened.
McDonald’s spinoff CosMc’s is closing three locations.
The announcement of the closing of the three CosMc locations comes 13 months after McDonald’s introduced its “small format, drink led” concept in the US. It also coincided with McDonald’s announcing plans to add two more locations in Texas this year.
Macdonald said the three closing CosMcs are “larger spaces adapted to CosMc areas”.
McDonald’s first new value menu, $5 meal deal extended
CosMc has grown to a total of seven locations in the past year or so, starting in Bolingbrook, Illinois. The other six were in Texas.
“Since opening CosMc’s, we’ve had the benefit of experimenting with different location sizes and configurations — from renovating large restaurant locations to building smaller prototype locations focused on the drive-thru and digital experience,” the fast-food connoisseur explained. “We’ve learned that small format stores allow us to test new specialties that reflect our customer base.”
McDonald’s spinoff CosMC saw twice as many visits as a regular restaurant in its first month: Report.
The two new additions to Texas will be “new small format stores,” according to the company.
CosMc’s offers a variety of drinks such as Island Pick Me Up Punch, Churro Cold Brew Frappe and Sour Energy Burst. It also sells sweet and savory food.
McDonald’s says people have bought “hundreds of thousands” of his McPops.
Macdonald said of Cos MC: “We’ve only just glimpsed what we can learn about this growing category. “As CosMc’s continues to grow, the challenges will continue in the future.”

CosMc adds to McDonald’s huge footprint with traditional fast food restaurants in the US. There are approximately 13,500 McDonald’s across the country.
