The NFL’s conference championship games still have to be played, but the league already has Super Bowl LIX’s top seed set for New Orleans on Feb. 9.

Veteran referee Ron Torbert, who presided over the Los Angeles Rams’ victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI, will return for the “big game,” this time at the Caesars Superdome.

The only person on Torbert’s team with Super Bowl experience is lineman Boris Chech.

However, referee Mike Morton has been to the Super Bowl before, but as a player. He was a member of the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXIV.

According to Ben Austro of the Zebras Football, Morton will make history by playing in the Super Bowl and officiating.

The rest are umpire Max Causey, linesman Mark Stewart, field umpire Merle Robinson, backs umpire Jonas Monroe and replay official Kevin Brown.

It’s worth noting that Morton and Causey are in their third seasons and that the Super Bowl generally has officials with at least five years of experience.

As for Torbert, he has worked NFL games since 2010, starting as a backline referee before becoming a referee in 2014.

As he says Pro Football ReferenceTorbert averaged 11.40 yards per carry (1.03) during the 2024 season.

Torbert and his staff will know which two teams to judge this weekend.

The Washington Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will begin at Lincoln Financial Field first to decide who will represent the NFC in New Orleans.

They split their NFC East regular season series, with Commanders rookie sensation Jayden Daniels leading the team in a home win streak.
