Texas restaurant ordered to pay $2.8 million to woman burned at BBQ South
A Texas jury has ordered the restaurant chain to pay $2.8 million to a woman who sued after she was burned by BBQ sauce.
Jensen Monita, 19, sued Bill Miller Bar-BQ Enterprises in October 2023 after she was served the sauce that caused her second-degree burns earlier in the year.
The incident occurred in May 2023 when Monita ordered breakfast tacos with barbecue sauce from the restaurant, according to court documents. Seen on FOX 26 Houston.

After taking the soup out of the bag, Monita dropped it on her leg because of how hot it was and sustained second degree burns.
According to the lawsuit, the restaurant’s policy states that the soup should be at least 165 degrees when served, but the soup was said to be 189 degrees that day.
