‘Sorry’: Bondi shuts down questioning Dem senator attacks another Trump appointee
US Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi clashed with a senior Democratic senator during her confirmation hearing to lead the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Wednesday.
Kash Patel was forced to defend Bondi as President Donald Trump’s pick to lead the FBI when Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., pressed her on her past comments.
He cited, among other comments, Patel’s proposal to close FBI headquarters and threaten an “enemies list.”

“Is that the man, the right one, who should be the director of the FBI? Are those comments inappropriate? Shouldn’t you leave them and ask them to delete them?” Blumenthal hammer
Bondi replied: “Senator, I am not aware of all these comments. I have not discussed these comments with Mr. Patel.
“I know Mr. Patel…” she began before Blumenthal tried to cut her off.
Bondi stepped forward, “Excuse me. The Mr. Patel I knew was a career prosecutor. Public defender, used to defending people. And he has a good background in the intelligence community.”

“I can sit here and tell you that if Mr. Patel cooperates with the FBI, if he is confirmed and if I am confirmed, he will follow the law. If I am the Attorney General of the United States. Of America, and I don’t believe he will do anything else,” Bondi said.
Blumenthal responded: “Well, the response I would expect from you is that those comments are inappropriate, and that when they come before this committee, you ask them to reject or retract them, because they are.” It is very disappointing to ensure fair execution and the rule of law.”
This comes after Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., similarly placed Bondi on what Democrats called Patel’s “enemies list.”

In Patel’s book, “Government Bandits: The Deep State, The Truth and the Fight for Our Democracy,” he mentions a list of 60 people who are part of the “deep state.”
Bondi defended Patel during the White House inquiry, promising that there would never be an “enemies list” at the DOJ.
