Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah among famous cricketers in anti-doping drug testing pool
The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) has updated its Registered Testing Pool (RTP) for 2025, including the famous names of the Indian cricket team. Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill are among the prominent Indian cricketers who have been included in NADA’s anti-doping list.
Doping Control Officers (DCOs) of the National Anti-Doping Agency will collect samples from selected players during the white-ball series between India and England. The purpose of this program is to promote transparency and fairness in sports by regularly testing athletes to ensure they are complying with anti-doping rules.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been informed of these measures, which will come into effect immediately, with DCOs expected to visit several venues during the series. India will face England in a five-match T20I series, the first match of which will be played in Kolkata on Wednesday, January 22.

According to a report by The Times of India, a total of 14 male and female cricketers have been included in a trial pool registered with athletes from other disciplines. Hardik Pandya, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Arshdeep Singh, Sanju Samson and Tilak Verma are also part of the current roster.
Three women cricketers – opener Shafali Verma, all-rounder Deepti Sharma and pacer Renuka Singh Thakur – have also been included in the RTP. NADA is committed to strengthening its anti-doping efforts by including India’s top cricketing talent.
First RTP for doping includes Chetshwar Pujara, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul
The National Anti-Doping Agency introduced a registered testing pool of cricketers in 2019. Ravindra Jadeja, Chetshwar Pujara, KL Rahul, Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma were part of the list.
These players have provided their “whereabouts” list for testing. However, in 2020, Pujara, Jadeja, Rahul, Mandhana and Sharma were released with a warning due to technical issues with their whereabouts, explained by the BCCI as a problem and complications of the Covid-19 lockdown. .

“Athletes who are part of the RTP are required to provide whereabouts information which will be used by NADA for out-of-competition sample collection,” the report said.
There is specific information about “where” athletes are required to provide to anti-doping services, including their home address, email and phone number, and an overnight address. Athletes must provide a 60-minute window each day in which they are available for testing.
Prithvi Shaw failed the 2020 doping test after testing positive for the banned substance (terbutaline). Shaw said he inadvertently ate it, but was banned for the violation.
Other cricketers like Yusuf Pathan, Pradeep Sangwan and Anshula Rao have been banned by the BCCI for failing doping tests.
