Varun Chakraborty returns with figures of 3/23 in first T20I against England
Spinner Varun Chakraborty is one of the main reasons behind the success of the Indian national cricket team. The mysterious spinner has broken the backbone of the England national cricket team and has helped the team finish the opposition matches with minimal totals.
Chakraborty, who came into the attack with a power play, did not take long to make an impact with the ball. He struck in the second to remove both Harry Brook and Liam Livingstone to bring his team back into the game at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Varun Chakraborty then removed Jos Buttler and took three wickets. The Indian national cricket team spinner returned with figures of 3/23 in the first T20I. His impressive efforts with the ball helped India bowl out England for just 132 runs.
I’m still 7 out of 10, still more work – Varun Chakravarty
Talking about his performance with the ball, Chakraborty said that he is used to this pitch because of the IPL. He spoke about his plans earlier and speaking after the match, the Indian national cricket team spinner said:
“I’m still 7 for 10, I still have more work to do. I’m used to seeing such bowlers in the IPL. I know it’s for cover, but I know there are certain lengths that help me. I realized I can’t beat the batsmen with side spin.
Packing batsmen like Jos and other men is a challenge – Varun Chakraborty
Varun Chakravarty says he wants to keep the ball away from the batting arc. He spoke to Jos Buttler about the plan and said that his past was a challenge, but he thanked God for his success. He added:
“Trying to keep it out of their reach, it was holding up a bit. Every now and then, bowling in Eden is challenging. Battling bats like Joes and other gangsters is definitely a challenge. The final finish was very tricky and challenging, but by God’s grace I succeeded.”
In the second match, he will be keen to continue the results and lead his team to victory. The next game will be played on Saturday (January 25).
