Shakur Stevenson’s “Depressed” challenger ducks after a no-show
Shakur Stevenson says he’s “concerned” that challenger Floyd Schofield may miss their Feb. 22 fight after a no-show for a press conference to discuss their undercard clash against Artur Beterbiev and Dmitri Bivol on the 2nd card.
Schofield’s absence
Scofield (18-0, 12 KOs) wasn’t there today, but promoter Oscar De La Hoya was with Golden Boy Promotions, and he talked a lot about him.
WBC lightweight champion Stevenson will fight against hand-picked Scofield next month. It could be one of the most exciting fights on the card as it allows fans to see Stevenson turn over a new leaf. He said he will stay in the pocket for this fight and is going to “steal the show” from the other fighters on the card.

It doesn’t matter that Scofield didn’t show up during the press conference because it’s on February 22nd and it puts a lot of pressure on the champion. It’s a fight that could hurt Shakur if his surgically rehabilitated right hand isn’t helped by the heat of battle. Trying to fight Floyd Jr. with just one hand would be a nightmare.

Stevenson should be glad the fight with William Zepeda didn’t happen because that’s why it could have been bad for him. There’s no way he can match Zepeda’s high 100+ punches per round outside the box, and he can’t handle his firepower. He was forced to run, and that was a bad look.
“Stealing the Show”
“What shall I conquer? Just be myself. Get in there and perform. My aim is to steal the show. That’s why I came. I think Cordina is a hell of a fighter. I don’t have too bad to say. Me and I always thought he was a good fighter. I’m into the fight the fans want to see,” Shakur said.
There’s no way Shakur can “steal the show” on February 22nd, unless all the other fights bomb, and he doesn’t rework his safety-first fighting style. Shakur is too chicken to stop using his no-hit, no-hit fighting style. Therefore, this kind of Stevenson forbids ‘stealing the show’.
“The fans didn’t want to see me with Sicordi. Everyone is in the fight and they think this is a horrible fight. When they saw me fight Scofield, they were excited about the fight because he’s a young undefeated lion, and he’s a natural at 135 pounds.
“Most people think Cordina is 130 pounds. I actually think he’s 135 pounds, and I think he feels better with the weight. Just because it’s not happening now doesn’t mean it won’t happen.” Shakur said.
Forward to the fight against Shakur and Corridi. It takes a lot of work. Stevenson’s career must crumble. The 33-year-old Corridi isn’t young and hasn’t been active in his career, so the fight can only happen that way.
He last fought on May 8, 2024, losing to Anthony Kakas in the eighth round. He doesn’t have any fights scheduled and he has no hopes for a fight with Stevenson to reach the top level at 135.
