Sen. Cathy Britt: Trump and his team are ready to boost the US economy and energy sector.

We often talk about history repeating itself, but we have clearly seen it many times as we have just seen. In the year In the 1970s, the US economy was in dire straits, with historically high inflation and stagnant growth.
Our wrong foreign policy was the Iranian revolution and the kidnapping of 66 American citizens in Tehran, which only increased the cost at home – the costs increased through the roof during the long energy crisis.
As of January 2021, during the turmoil in former President Biden’s White House, the American people have suffered from conditions very similar to those of the late 1970s. In the year By 2022, inflation will hit a 40-year high, and everyday goods and services like margarine (56.8% increase), car insurance (47.3% increase) and eggs (40.1% increase) will cost more than they did. 2020.
The United States has been in embarrassing decline globally over the past four years, with Afghanistan in dire straits, Russia invading Ukraine, Iran sponsoring large-scale terrorist attacks that have killed American citizens, and Communist China threatening to expand.
Donald Trump is our president and the Democrats have no idea what to do.
Just in the year In 1980, the American people elected a Republican in November who would restore America’s credibility in the face of time-consuming peace-strengthening policies in the face of governments that hurt us.
Before taking office, President Trump showed that he would boost America’s energy power with a thriving economy, a strong national defense and — crucially — a laundry list of solutions to the problems the administration has created over the past four years. .
The Biden administration’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) seems confused about protecting the environment by punishing productivity. The regulations proposed by the current iteration of the EPHA are neither constitutional nor coherent. They carry US Supreme Court decisions and pose risks to energy producers and consumers – from households and small businesses to farmers and producers.
Trump’s (second) first 100 days gave Democrats opportunities
Take, for example, the agency’s vehicle emissions standards, its ambitious plan to effectively phase out gas-powered automobiles and replace them with electric cars. Those penalty rules set targets for the number of electric models produced in the U.S. as a percentage of all light- and medium-duty vehicles produced each year. Those standards are, as you can imagine, the strictest in American history.
In the year By 2032, two-thirds of new vehicles should be electric. For reference, only 5.8% of new cars sold in the US in 2022 will be electric vehicles. The Biden-Harris EPA wants to kill the gas-powered car industry.
EPA isn’t stopping at regulations. He passed regulations last November to establish a “waste emissions fee” on oil and gas facilities that emit high levels of methane as part of the weak Rate Reduction Act (IRA). The “fee,” otherwise known as a tax, will start at $900 in 2024 for “wasteful” emissions, before rising to $1,200 in 2024 and $1,500 in 2026 and beyond.
While companies may be able to reduce or even avoid the penalty by using methane reduction technology, doing so can in some cases result in a cost that exceeds the tax.
Congress is ready to work with President Trump to deliver on the mandate from the American people
The problems with that tax don’t end with energy producers. The costs – as always – will be passed on to the consumer, meaning that energy will become more expensive for all Americans if this supply is allowed to stop. It would be bad for Alabama, too: The tax is on offshore and offshore petroleum and natural gas production, two resources our state is blessed with.
It shouldn’t be this way, and Republicans and President Trump are determined to fix it.
I strongly expect that President Trump’s EPA pick, former New York Congressman Lee Zeldin, will work to dismantle the agency’s red tape regime of stifling regulations and inflated taxes. And he won’t be the only one working to reverse the illegal, unnecessary and undeniably harmful policies of the Biden administration.

Former North Dakota Governor and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum will lead the newly formed National Energy Council, unleashing our nation’s pioneering spirit and ushering us into a new chapter in America’s energy dominance, just as he did in his home state. .
The appointees and nominees President Trump has chosen to address energy policy in his new administration demonstrate his commitment to fixing our problems. President Trump will once again lead us to American Morning, and my colleagues and I are ready to help make that happen.
