Ross Co 1 – 4 Celtic
Kyogo Furuhashi scored twice as Celtic cruised to a 4-1 win at Ross County to move clear of the Scottish Premiership with 18 points.
The Hoops looked to extend their winning streak to three games in 2025 and were on their way in the first leg when Keogo headed in Alistair Johnston’s superb pass.
However, following a lengthy VAR review on Johnston’s foul on new signing Kieran Phillips, Jordan White gave County a point from the penalty spot.
After Keogo’s powerful header put Celtic back in front, Arne Engels converted with James Brown’s try on Reo Hattet in stoppage time.
Luke McCowan led three touches in the box and netted the fourth to send the Hoops out of reach of Rangers on Sunday. Ross County remains 10th.
Kyogo’s versatility is key for Celtic
Brendan Rodgers replaces Keogh with Daisen joining James Forrest and Nicolas Kuhn on the injured list and Luis Palma being given compassionate leave.
Visiting goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel looked overmatched for the -5C temperature, but in the first two minutes Celtic twice conceded the ball on the icy pitch. Neither was on target.
As Celtic settled, Adam Idah pounced on the ball and Irishman Johnston set up and forced the first saver into the goal.
Celtic had Matthew McDermid’s penalty appeal turned down when Reo Hatate got in front of Elias Campbell and the pair were left off balance after a collision.
Kyogo had a great opportunity when he headed in Jordan Amisah’s cross from close range and in the 40th minute he headed in a good cross from Johnston to score.
Amisah made two stops from Aida and Furuhashi following a pass from left-back Alex Vale.
Hyun-Jun Young forced a save early on but County substitute White made good on goal after Johnston pushed Phillips into the goalmouth.
Rodgers brought on 21-year-old striker Jonny Kenny for the first time since the Irishman signed on loan at Shamrock Rovers, but he shot straight at Amisah from 10 yards out.
Celtic went back in front when Engels crossed from the left and Amisa got a hand to it but Furuhashi headed into the top corner.
After James Brown was penalized by VAR for a challenge on Young, Engels netted from the penalty again. Amisah saved the first attempt but was ruled offside following another VAR intervention.
Not long after, McCowan headed home eight minutes after a fine finish.
