The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has made a special arrangement for the comeback of talismanic cricketer Rohit Sharma in the Ranji Trophy. It will also be remembered that Rohit will be playing in a Ranji Trophy match after a gap of nine years.

The Indian captain will be seen in Mumbai’s match against Jammu and Kashmir at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy at Bandra Kurla Complex. The game will start from January 23 and a large number of participants is expected.

MCA has made special arrangements for Rohit Sharma’s return match

MCA has made special security arrangements due to the presence of Rohit Sharma. A huge crowd is expected for the match as they will see Rohit play in a Ranji match after nine years. However, there are only 500 seats available

An MCA official was quoted as saying by PTI, “Additional security has been put in place and we have increased the seating capacity of fans to 500. The seats are expected to be full due to the presence of top-class international cricketers in the match.”

Rohit announced his decision to play in the Ranji Trophy during the Indian team’s selection press conference for the 2025 Champions Trophy. He had earlier trained with the Mumbai team after returning from Australia.

There have been questions over Rohit’s commitment after his poor form with the bat in recent Tests for India. He had a torrid run during India’s home Test season and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.

Rohit Sharma is going to play under Ajinkya Rahane.

Rohit Sharma will play under the lead of veteran India and Mumbai cricketer Ajinkya Rahane. Along with him, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dubey and Shardul Thakur are top class players for Mumbai which makes them favorites to win.

Among these players, Yashasvi Jaiswal has emerged as the most prolific player since his debut in India. Jaswal is likely to open the batting against Jammu and Kashmir but Rohit’s batting position is yet to be confirmed.

Mumbai are third in the table with 22 points. Baroda leads Group A with 27 points while Jammu and Kashmir is second with 23 points. Mumbai won the title last year under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane.

Rohit Sharma’s latest test form

Rohit Sharma scored just 31 runs in three Tests in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He averaged just 6.20 which sums up his ordinary tour down. The 37-year-old had to pull himself out of the final Test in Sydney in poor form. Jasprit Bumtah led India in Rohit’s absence.

In the five Test series in Australia, Rohit scored 133 runs at an average of just 13.30 at home against Bangladesh and New Zealand.

The BCCI recently made it clear that every player must commit to playing domestic cricket whenever available. Along with Rohit, Virat Kohli has confirmed his availability for Delhi’s Ranji Trophy match against Railways from January 30.
