Podcaster Tim Dillon criticized California’s response to the LA fires
Los Angeles-based comedian and podcaster Tim Dillon weighed in on the government’s handling of the wildfires on Monday’s episode of “The Tim Dillon Show.”
“The city was completely gone. There was no water in the f—ing hydrants. No one cleared any of this brush, they didn’t do any inspections, they didn’t prepare any of these places,” he says. Dillon added that these steps were ignored because “we didn’t want to upset the fish.”
President-elect Donald Trump sparked the storm last week by calling out California Gov. Gavin Newsom for “essentially protecting a worthless fish” instead of Californians’ water needs. It wasn’t the first time Trump called out Newsom on the issue in an interview with Joe Rogan in October, hitting Newsom on the 2024 election lead.

“I was in (California) farm country with some members of Congress,” Trump told Rogan. It’s farmland and it looked awful: ‘But there’s always that green and lovely corner. They said we have no water. “Are you thirsty?” I asked. ‘No, we don’t have a drought,’ he recalls.
Trump continued, “Why did I say you don’t have (any) water?” Because the water is not allowed to go down, and to protect the little fish, the water to the north is poured millions and millions of gallons of water.
The governor’s press office said that Trump’s accusations are completely wrong, saying that the president-elect is “combining two completely unrelated things: water to Southern California and supply from local storage.”
“Generally speaking, there is no shortage of water. Southern California Now, though, Trump says he’s opening some imaginary spigot, Newsom’s office added. “(The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power) said low-elevation pumping stations did not have enough pressure due to high water demand. High-altitude tanks and the ongoing fire prevented pump crews from reaching them. They used water tenders to provide supplemental water – Wildland A common method of extinguishing fire.

Dillon also expressed frustration with California’s leadership, saying, “You go to bed thinking somebody’s in charge. Nobody’s in charge, nobody’s in charge. That’s the thing.”
He added, “The people who seem to have some kind of clue seem to be actively working on public interest activities in whatever way they can. The people who seem to have any power in this community are actively working for you.” It’s getting harder and more dangerous by the minute, and by the way, people who seem to have any power or control are constantly doing bad things that you can’t do anything about.

After the fire was out of control, Gov asked Dillon about the confusion among those still supporting Newsom: “What cult are you in, why are you in, who put you in, what do you get?” “

Later in the podcast, Dillon went on to criticize the state of California’s preparedness, saying that “you can’t have people running on fire on psychological things” and “they can’t do anything.”
“We let 19-year-olds who look good on Twitter run this city. We need to run this city with real operators who can get things done,” he said.
