Penguins star Evgeni Malkin has 3 Stanley Cup rings stolen in home burglary
Pittsburgh Penguins star Evgeni Malkin is the latest athlete to have his home burglarized.
Malkin’s three Stanley Cup rings were among the items taken in the robbery. on KDKA-TV.
The 38-year-old’s home collapsed on the day the Penguins played the Ottawa Senators.

Malkin’s Penguins lost 5-0 Senators But on Saturday, the star forward did not play due to an upper body injury.
“We are working closely with local authorities and team security,” the team said in a statement on Tuesday night. “Malkin has asked that his privacy be respected at this time, and we will have no further comment on the matter.”
KDKA-TV also reported Malkin’s home security system was broken during the robbery and the safe was unlocked.
Malkin has been in the NHL for 19 seasons, all with the Penguins. He won the Hart Trophy for the league’s most valuable player in 2011-2012 and has 1,328 career points (506 goals, 822 assists).

The FBI warned professional sports leagues late last month that South American organized crime groups were behind many of the home invasions, ABC News reported. The report says the teams conduct “physical and technical surveillance” in preparation for robberies. They use social media to find out where and when someone goes missing from their home and leave their footprints.
The NFL and NBA sent memos to teams in November about home security measures following the home break-ins of some of their athletes.
Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce had their homes torn down in October.
When the Cincinnati Bengals played the Dallas Cowboys in December, quarterback Joe Burrow’s home was targeted.

In the NBA, Minnesota Timberwolves Mike Conley Jr.’s home was burglarized on September 15 while attending a Minnesota Vikings game.
Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis had his house torn down on November 2nd.
Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic’s home was burglarized in late December.
