As he prepares to embark on a new journey in the IPL, Pant reflects on what he has learned from his captains.

The left-handed batsman is now set to lead a new team, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), in IPL 2025. There was no Virat Kohli or MS Dhoni, but Rohit Sharma wanted to infuse his one special quality into it. His own leadership style.

Rohit has taught his players how to truly care for them by instilling faith and belief that when a captain shows faith and trust in his team, players can perform beyond expectations.

Want to learn how to take care of a player from Rohit Sharma: Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant was quoted by Revsportz as saying, “Yes, I have learned from many captains, many of my seniors, because I feel you should not only learn from your captain. But it is difficult to be very clear. Rohit Bhai is one. Like Rohit Bhai, you learn how to look after a player because when I captain a side, I feel like a captain.

The newly appointed LSG chief emphasized that leadership is not just about learning from a captain but from everyone around you. Rishabh Pant says trust and support are important to bring out the best in his players and he wants to mold his captaincy in this way.

The Indian wicketkeeper continued, “If you give faith and trust to a player, he will do things for you and the team that you can’t even imagine. And that’s the ideology we want to have: we take the players back, we try to give them confidence, and we communicate clearly what kind of role we want. And this is the idea.

Rishabh Pant aims to build a winning culture at Lucknow Supergiants.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant said he wants to instill a “never-say-die” mentality in Lucknow Supergiants as he believes fighting spirit is more important than performance. The LSG boss wants to create a type of character and a team culture where his players will give 20-30% more, even if he feels depleted in the upcoming IPL 2025.

Rishabh Pant gave further explanation. “One thing is an attitude that never dies, like you fight until the last ball. And that’s something I always emphasize: performances come and go. But are you fighting enough? Are you giving 100% when you’re on the field? And that’s something you can control as an individual.”

Because, look, everybody gets tired. But how much are you willing to take in the long run? Are you willing to give that extra 20-30% to the team, even if your body won’t allow it? That’s the kind of character we want in the team. This is the kind of culture we want to build in the future.
