“Not a threat”: Scofield dismisses Stevenson’s chances for upcoming fight.
Floyd Schofield gave an amusing response when he told the media last weekend that he hoped Shakur Stevenson would not back down from their February 22 fight in Riyadh. ‘Kid Austin’ Schofield (18-0, 12 KOs) is not the type of threat that makes Shakur (22-0, 10 KOs) want to go out.
Scofield said he had a “passport” problem that prevented him from traveling to London to attend the Turk Al Sheik In The Ring Awards. If not, he would have accepted their invitation to watch and interview like many other wrestlers.
One hand Shakur?
Challenger Schofield doesn’t see WBC lightweight champion Shakur as a dangerous fighter because he’s not a puncher, and he’s right. Shakur is a native of Newark, New Jersey. Pure 100% boxer He doesn’t back down when under pressure and shows no reluctance to stand in the pocket if his opponents have power. Stevenson is probably the most timid champion in the sport and has no desire to fight.
Stevenson’s last battle Artem HarutyunyanThe 34-year-old held his ground for most of the time, unable to land a punch. But even in that fight, Shakur was running. That’s why the fans began to leave in large numbers heading to the exits in the eighth inning. It happened at the Prudential Center in Shakur’s hometown of Newark.
Glass hand
Shakur’s surgically operated right hand is the real question mark in this fight, as a video released last week showed him still not using it while hitting a mitt with one of his trainers. I don’t know Shakur’s chances in this fight The glass hand falls. Scofield is too strong and throws too many punches to survive a one-armed Kurn.
38 days before the Feb. 22 card, it’s not a good sign that Stevenson still isn’t using that hand. The problem does not disappear in five weeks. If a person undergoes hand surgery, it takes more than five weeks to recover.
“Why did I think? He brings nothing to the table to turn a man away from a fight. But that’s Shakur. He always has something smart to say. We hope he maintains that same energy on February 22nd, but no one backs down from a fight,” said Floyd Schofield. Milk City BoxHe responded to Shakur Stevenson by saying that he hopes he doesn’t back out of the fight with his no-show performance at the In-Ring Awards in London last Saturday.
“That’s how it should be said. If you feel the same way about him,” Scofield said, Shakur said in a video interview, ‘deep down, he knows he (Kid Austin) can’t beat me.
“It’s no threat to me. I can’t shame him by saying what he deserves, but if I didn’t feel that way, I wouldn’t have taken the fight. He’s got to be a projector himself because I’m here, I’m training and I’m getting my sparring,” Schofield said of Shakur in another video. “He’s worried he (Floyd) might not come.
