MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell praised President Biden for his accomplishments while in office, including signing the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill.

“Listen, I said you’re never going to get an infrastructure bill,” O’Donnell told Biden in the president’s final interview released on Thursday. “In my legislative experience, working in the Senate, I don’t see how this small, smallest Senate majority in history is possible. To this day, it seems like a magic trick to me how you pulled that off.”

Signed into law on November 15, 2021, Biden’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act directs billions of dollars to environmental projects, including boosting clean energy through public transportation and sanitation.

“Well, here’s my argument with the congressmen[and]senators who came down, how can you run the world without having the most modern infrastructure in the world?” Verdict said.

“You’ve combined domestic policy and foreign policy in a way I’ve never heard any other president do,” O’Donnell told Biden.

“Because it’s important, by the way,” replied the president. “There’s no way we’re going to carry out our foreign policy unless we’re in a strong position to do it in terms of our economic policy. You see, Lawrence, you’re one of the most knowledgeable people I know. I’m not begging—well, I shouldn’t say that and hurt your reputation, but all that aside.” Think about it, if we don’t rule the world, who will rule the world? Verdict said.

“What happened? I didn’t mean dominance,” he continued. “I mean lead the world with basic, fundamental principles like the UN Charter, with those kind of — who’s going to step up, who’s going to have the capacity to do that? We have the size, we have the scope, we have the capacity, technology, but we have to get back into the game and that’s what I’ve done.”
