MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough said Wednesday that he didn’t see President Biden’s mental breakdown at White House meetings as many questioned the president’s legacy as he prepares to hand over the presidency to President-elect Donald Trump.

“As I said earlier, I spent two-and-a-half to three hours with Joe Biden in the White House, in the White House, talking long and hard about foreign policy. He’s been doing this since he was 29 years old, and he was as physically slow as any new world leader? But he So in two and a half to three hours with him in the White House, I didn’t see that. ,” Scarborough said.

During the interview, Scarborough pushed back at the Financial Times’ Edward Luce, who in a A piece published on Wednesday Biden’s mental decline was an “open secret” in Washington.

“I don’t know that it’s so easy that everyone in Washington, D.C. thinks the guy was unequipped to be president of the United States. I know that’s what they’re saying on social media, but that wasn’t mine. I bet Mike Barnacle would tell you the same thing and Micah,” Scarborough said.

Blinking media, senior democrats and leaders politely defend BID’s ability to serve

Scarborough and Brzezinski have been Biden’s biggest defenders and close allies in the media. However, Scarborough questioned the president’s fitness following a debate against Trump in June.

In March 2024, Scarborough blamed viewers who couldn’t handle the “truth” that Biden was the best ever.

“I’ve said for years, he’s smart. But when I say smart, he’s smarter, in fact, I think better than ever, intellectually, analytically, because he’s been around. 50 years,” Scarborough said during a March broadcast. “Start your tape now because I’m going to tell you the truth. And if you can’t handle the truth. This version of Biden, intellectually, analytically, is the best Biden ever.”

Luce pushed back on the MSNBC host’s claim that foreign leaders and those closest to Biden are “surprised” by how sharp the president is in meetings.

“I’m certainly not making things up here. I’ve talked to people who know Biden, and I can assure you that I’ve had a lot of conversations over the last couple of years about his declining energy, his declining memory. His short daily schedule to accommodate his declining memory and energy, so I’m not going to air it out,” he said. Luce said.

Scarborough said he had nothing to accuse Luce of, and wondered why those who witnessed the president’s downfall didn’t come out and sound the alarm earlier. Scarborough and Luce cited Washington Post columnist David Ignatius, who suggested that Biden not run for re-election in September 2023.

“Because if I had seen it, I would have said it,” Scarborough said.

Luce also said Biden’s claim that he could have won was “highly contested.”

“I think it’s an understandable sense of pride because he beat Trump in 2020 and, I want to emphasize, because he’s a very good president, that he thinks he can beat Trump in November. But I do. I think that’s completely wrong.”
