Indian national cricket team player Mohammad Shami has become the talk of the town since last day. This is because he was not in the playing XI for the first T20I against the England national cricket team at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday (January 22).
In the year Mohammed Shami, who played his last match for India in the 2023 ICC World Cup, is all set to make a comeback in the England national cricket team in the ongoing T20I series. He has been included in the squad to regain his rhythm ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Mohammed Shami walked in the side nets for half an hour before the first T20I
Mohammed Shami was sure to make a comeback in the first T20I when he was declared fit. However, his pace has been impressive despite not being a part of the starting XI despite practicing consistently with the team over the past few days.
Shami crashed into the side netting half an hour before the match. Although, he still has to brace his left knee, the fast bowler was at full tilt in the Indian nets in all their sessions ahead of the first match against the England national cricket team.
When Mohammed Shami returned to the dressing room, he felt a hint of anxiety.
Although Shami seems fit, reports in PTI said. Despite having to be braced on the knee, he went into full throttle without the attention of the medical team. But when he returned to the dressing room, it was understood that there was a hint of stress.
Shami moved cautiously as he took steps with a measure that seemed reminiscent of his left leg. The Indian national cricket team fast bowler’s injury does not appear to be serious and he is expected to play some role in the upcoming four-match T20I series.
Mohammed Shami has been named in the Indian squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The Indian national cricket team will be key for the team in the tournament and the management will be hoping to get their full fitness ahead of the event. They play in February.
India won the first T20I in England by 7 wickets.
Coming to the first T20I between India National Cricket Team and England National Cricket Team, the hosts won the match by 7 wickets. They chased down the target in 13 overs, chasing down the Jos Buttler-led team for 132 runs to win the series 1-0.
The next match of the series is scheduled to be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday (January 25). Whether Mohammed Shami will be part of the squad for the match remains to be seen.
