Mohammed Shami broke his silence after the controversies surrounding his injury
Mohammed Shami is all set to make his much-awaited return to the international stage after a 5-match T20I series against England. He was also named in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 squad.
As the T20I series is set to begin on Wednesday, January 22 at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata, BCCI shared a touching video on their social media where Shami reflects on his journey and inspiration while flying a kite.
The video starts with the Indian pacer sharing that it has been a long time since he last flew a kite, as cricket has kept him busy, but he can still fly a kite and knows how to keep his balance. Even Shami has shown a meaningful connection between flying kites and playing cricket.
A cricketer’s balance is like a cricketer’s life: Mohammed Shami
Mohammad Shami compared the balance required to fly a kite with the rhythm and focus required on the field. The seasoned pacer says maintaining fitness, attitude and skill are critical to mastering the kite in bowling, but it’s always about confidence.

In a video released by the BCCI on social media, Mohammad Shami said, “A kite balance is like a cricketer’s life; If you are prepared at the crease, you will score runs and take wickets. The rhythm is very important; Everything in life has a flow. Regardless, your fitness, mindset and skills are important to bowling.
Same goes for Kate. It doesn’t matter if you are flying a kite, bowling or driving a car. If you are strong and believe in yourself, I don’t think you will find any difference. Look, I can still fly this kite in 15 years. Therefore, self-confidence is important for any task,” he said.
‘You must not give up your stubbornness.’
Meanwhile, the 34-year-old said his successful recovery was due to perseverance and determination. Shami said the repeated push to return to the field and represent the country kept him motivated throughout his long journey.
However, the Indian pacer admitted that he felt some fear during the run initially, but managed to conquer it completely.
Mohammad Shami continued his thoughts, “When we are small, our parents teach us to walk, so we fall and get up, but we never stop learning to walk, so you must not give up your stubbornness.” Even if you fall down, you have to get up and walk again, and in the same profession, if you get hurt, you have to work hard for your team and your country, so I always say: keep fighting and move forward. He said.

Mohammed Shami says his injury will make him a stronger player.
The Bengals also said that when a player is doing well, everyone is on his side, but it is during the tough times that he faces the real challenge.
Shami said he waited for a whole year and worked very hard to make a comeback. He pointed out that the injury made him stronger as an athlete because he had to repeat a lot of things while being mentally strong.
Mohammad Shami said that he always believed in hard work and now the difficult phase is over. The Indian pacer said failures are a part of life, but the key is to get back up and move forward. Injuries can get in your way, but your commitment to giving back to your team and country is what really matters. Shami said, “So fight and grow!”
After a trial period and a long wait, he is back to donate the blue 💙
