Major security breach near India dressing room at Eden Gardens ahead of 1st T20I against England
A major security breach has been reported around the Indian dressing room ahead of the first T20I against the England national cricket team. As reported in RaySports, it was learned that even before the team reached the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, one of the fans was caught in the ground near the dressing room.
The security breach occurred on Tuesday (January 22) when the players and support staff of the Indian national cricket team arrived at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata for a practice session, reports said. This comes ahead of the first T20I between India and England national cricket team.
The BCCI security personnel identified the fan in the ground and threw him out when the team reached the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
As the players and fans entered the dressing room, it was learned that the BCCI security personnel singled out the fan who was near the dressing room and took him out. However, thanks to the players and staff, it was not a serious breach that could have jeopardized the first game of the series.
The first match of the five-match T20I between the Men in Blue and the England national cricket team is scheduled to take place on Wednesday (January 22). The series opener between the teams is scheduled to take place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The Indian national cricket team has been in the thick of it for the past few days for the series.
The Suryakumar Yadav-led side has been putting in strong yards over the past few days for the series. It will be a crucial series for the team to build up for the T20 World Cup 2026 to be held in India and Sri Lanka.
The hosts were captained by Suryakumar Yadav while Axar Patel was appointed as the vice-captain of the team. The series will also be important for head coach Gautam Gambhir, as he has come under a huge scanner for his role in recent months.
Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma are likely to open in the match, likely to be India’s first T20I XI.
In the match, India are likely to open with Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma. During the press conference, even vice-captain Axar Patel confirmed that the position of the openers had been fixed. Therefore, it gives them a great opportunity to set the stage for the team.
Thilak Varma, skipper Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and Rinku Singh are expected to be the middle-order batsmen. Axar Patel along with Varun Chakraborty and Ravi Bishnoi are likely to follow the spin trio for the team in the first T20I against England.
Although Mohammed Shami is sure to make a comeback for the team in the first T20I. He can be partnered with Arshdeep Singh who is just 5 wickets short of picking 100 wickets in the shortest format of the game.
