Macy’s will close 66 stores by 2025. Here they are.

Macy’s on Thursday named 66 stores it plans to close this year.

At the “no-go” locations that Macy’s said will be permanently closed, the killings are spread across 22 states, including Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri. New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

The closures stem from a “bold new chapter” initiative the retailer has been implementing since last February to “return the company to sustainable and profitable sales growth.”

In the year Closing about 150 “underperforming” stores by the end of 2026 is one of the steps Macy’s has previously outlined for the initiative.

Macia’s will accelerate store closings this year.

Macy’s announced on Thursday that the “majority” of the 66 stores it will close in the first quarter of 2025. The document List of places.

“Closing any store is never easy, but as part of our Bold New Phase strategy, we are closing underperforming Macy’s stores to allow us to focus our resources and prioritize in performing stores where our customers respond positively to better product offerings and superior service,” CEO Tony Spring said. As part of Macy’s “Bold New Chapter” initiative, the retailer is also looking to invest in “future locations” and open more smaller formats. There are a total of 350 “future” stores, the company said.

How Mackey can turn around the business as a department store struggles

Macy’s will “simplify and modernize end-to-end operations” and open more Bloomingdale’s and Bloommercury locations, the retailer said in February when it announced plans for a “bold new chapter.”

Macy’s currently operates about 60 Bloomingdale’s-branded locations and 164 Bloommercury-branded stores, according to its website.

During Macy’s earnings call in December, Spring reported that Macy’s “top 50” locations, Bloomingdale’s and Bluemercury, were “all positive” in the third quarter.

The retailer generated $4.7 billion in revenue in the three months, down nearly 2.7% year-over-year.

“Year-over-year, we’ve made progress in our bold new phase strategy and are on track to achieve our long-term goal of sustainable, profitable growth,” Spring said last month.
