LSU football star Collin Hurley injured in campus car accident: police report

Collin Hurley, a freshman at LSU, was injured in a car crash on campus early Thursday morning, according to a police report.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department and LSU Police found Harley, 17, unresponsive near the gates just before 3 a.m., according to the report.

Harley is believed to be driving a Dodge Charger at the time of the crash and crashed into a tree at South Quad Drive and Highland Road. WBRZ reported.

Harley is a native of Jacksonville, Florida. He did not see any action during his true freshman season.

Collin’s family released a statement thanking the medical staff and LSU football fans as the player continues his recovery.

“Colin would like to thank the first responders, the wonderful doctors and nurses at Our Lady of the Lake Heath and the many Tigers fans for their care and compassion.” The statement was read. Colin is resting and stable while further tests and care are being carried out. We are confident that Colin will make a full recovery from this terrible accident.

The cause of the crash was not immediately released, but officials said the cause of the injury was unlikely. Because Hurley is a minor, university officials would not comment further on the situation.
