Liverpool star Darwin Nunez seems to be liking a social media post calling for a move to UCL rivals
Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez has liked a social media post linking him with Champions League club AC Milan. Nunez, who has struggled to secure regular game time under new manager Arne Slad, has been linked with a move to the Italian giants in the January window.
The Uruguayan forward joins the Reds in 2022 following a record £85m move from Benfica. However, he has fallen short of expectations and is currently in the pecking order ahead of Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz.
AC Milan TMN previously reported that the club have opened talks with Liverpool over a half-season loan deal that would include a £37.4 million buyout clause in the summer. This speculation gets more attention after Nunez liked an Instagram story of him in an AC Milan shirt.
Although Milan is closely linked with Darwin Nunez, contrary to the report Letters Simon Jones suggests Liverpool have not received any contact from the Italian club regarding a potential transfer.
Meanwhile, Arne slot himself expressed confidence in the ability to influence future games.
“For me, he has an impact. If you just look at the goals, he hasn’t scored the number of goals we want or we want him to score nine, but he has an impact at the level of his career. He’s part of a team that’s scoring a lot of goals and winning a lot,” he said (via BBC).
Liverpool are in good form and currently sit atop the Premier League table. Arsenal, who have played one game more than the Reds, lead by six points.
The Liverpool legend has shared his thoughts on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s exit.
While Nunez has been linked with a transfer, Liverpool vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold could be heading to Real Madrid next summer, according to several reports. The defender’s contract expires at the end of the season, allowing him to begin negotiations with other clubs this month.
Liverpool hero Jamie Carragher, in his post on social media X, stressed that the club and its players should focus on winning the Premier League.
“The most important thing for @LFC in 2025 is to win the #premierleague. No one’s contract or future should come this way! I love Trent as a boy and a player, but the team told him to compete with Real Madrid. And it was known that LFC would reject him when he left on a free. Covering himself is something the club/fans don’t want, he tweeted.
The Reds are gearing up for some challenging games this month, starting with a crucial match against Manchester United at Anfield on January 5. They then travel to London to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup semi-finals on January 8.
