The NBA has postponed the Los Angeles Lakers’ home game against the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday due to several wildfires burning in the greater Los Angeles area.

It was the second day the game, scheduled to be played in downtown Los Angeles, had been postponed. The NHL’s Los Angeles Kings were scheduled to host the Calgary Flames on Wednesday night.

The dates of the rescheduled games will be announced later. Tickets for the Kings’ extended game against Calgary will be good for the date, he said.

Five people have died and 180,000 have been told to evacuate their homes as wildfires fanned by gusts of up to 100 mph in Los Angeles.

The fire has consumed 45 square miles (117 square kilometers) about the size of San Francisco. The Palisades Fire is the most destructive fire in Los Angeles history.
