Karun Nair has been in a unique situation in domestic cricket recently. The 33-year-old striker made headlines with his impressive numbers in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy where he single-handedly led his team to the final.

Due to his rich vein, the selectors were forced to discuss him in the Indian Champions Trophy selection. But he didn’t get a chance. But Karun Nair is undeterred and is looking forward to the IPL 2025 season where he will represent Delhi Capitals.

The talented batsman has high hopes in a league where his primary focus is breaking into the Playing XI. He is sure to be counted once he gets a chance to play in the upcoming Indian Premier League season.

Karun Nair speaks in an amazing way

Speaking to Wisden, Karun Nair spoke about his recent form, scoring runs for fun. Although he says he has made some adjustments to his technique, he feels that the main reason for his success is the confidence of playing good balls over and over again.

“I have made a few adjustments in the way I play. I think I have played the same kind of balls throughout my career, not as many shots as I have played,” Nair said.

“It’s just about having the confidence to play these shots over and over again or to execute those shots. So just focus on the performance and be confident enough to play those particular shots,” he said.

Karun Nair breaks his silence on his IPL hopes

When asked about his IPL comeback, Karun Nair said that once a player is off the radar, it is difficult to come back. He is looking to find a way into the playing XI first and is confident in his abilities.

“I’ve played quite a few IPLs and I think I’ve probably been a part of every XI for almost 5 years in a row. What I tell myself is sometimes it’s tough if you go off the radar, sometimes it’s tough for you. To get back into that XI,” observed Nair.

“So for me at the moment it’s just about finding a way to get back into the XI and then with my skill set I’m sure I can do well and contribute to whichever team I play for,” added the winning 33-year-old.

Karun Nair in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25

Karun Nair had a good Vijay Hazare trophy recently, amassing 779 runs in 9 matches at an impressive 389.50 and a strike rate of 124.04. He smashed five hundreds in a tournament that included four consecutive hundreds.

However, it was not enough to find a way back to the Indian Champions Trophy. Vidarbha will be seen in the second round of the Ranji Trophy where he aims to take them to glory.

After the Ranji Trophy, Nair will be active for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025. Specifically, DC could be captained by Axar Patel or KL Rahul. He was signed up by the franchise in the IPL 2025 mega auction for INR 50 lakh. In his form, it could be a big bonus for the Capitals.
