JPMorgan Chase It reported fourth-quarter earnings before the opening bell on Wednesday.
Here’s what the company reported compared to Wall Street analysts surveyed by LSEG:
- Earnings: $4.81 a share, compared to $4.11 expected
- Revenue: $43.74 billion, up from $41.73 billion expected
JPMorgan’s results will be closely watched for signs that the industry’s optimism is warranted.
Banks ended the year under pressure on a number of factors: Wall Street’s activity kept Main Street consumers resilient while Donald Trump’s election victory fueled hopes of regulatory relief.
JPMorgan, America’s largest bank by assets, is benefiting on several fronts.
Last month, executives said the investment bank would generate revenue Increase 45% in the fourth quarter, and trading revenue jumps about 15%.
The bank also said it expects 2025 net interest income to be $2 billion higher than previous guidance, which analysts expect the fourth-quarter B.I.I. Expectations are expected to be high.
While the business is booming, CEO Jamie Dimon has asked CEO Jamie Dimon about his succession plan after No. 2 CEO Daniel Pinto stepped down as chief operating officer in June. You can ask. Dimon hinted last year that he might step down as CEO within five years.
Another question is how the Federal Reserve’s rate cut outlook will affect the bank’s liquidity. As Fed officials expect two more cuts this year, economic indicators may give them pause.
Finally, analysts could press JPMorgan on what could be a capital windfall if Trump’s regulators deliver a milder version of the Basel III endgame, as candidates have backed. Dimon said last May that stock buybacks would be muted because the stock was expensive, but they have since rebounded.
In addition to JPMorgan, Goldman SachsWells Fargo and Citigroup On Wednesday, they are reporting quarterly and full year results Bank of America and Morgan Stanley are due to report on Thursday.
