Vice President J.D. Vance is set to confirm Pete Hegsett as the next U.S. Secretary of Defense late Friday, and Ohio State quarterback Will Howard may feel the same way.

Vance, an Ohio State alumnus, casually celebrated Hegseth’s confirmation by referencing the recent 34-23 national championship victory over Notre Dame.

“As I learned a week ago with the Buckeyes, when you win the championship, the score doesn’t matter. We won the championship on this one. We got a great defensive back. We’re proud of him, and he’s going to do a great job,” Vance said.

Vans has been on a roll lately with sporty illustrations.

After former President Joe Biden falsely suggested that the Constitution include an equal rights amendment as the 28th Amendment, Vance mocked that idea with a baseball analogy.

Vance responded to Biden’s statement on X, joking that Biden should keep the late disgraced MLB icon. Pete Rose In the baseball hall of fame.

Ohio State’s Emeka Egbuka reflects on how the Buckeyes rallied from a loss to Michigan to become a national champion.

“Hey Joe if we’re doing fake s— can you announce Pete Rose to the Hall of Fame on the way out?” Vance wrote, about a popular baseball debate. Rose, MLB’s all-time hitter, who died in September, was banned from the sport for allegedly playing in illegal games.

Vance, meanwhile, was able to witness the Buckeyes’ first national title since 2014, when he and President Donald Trump were inaugurated. Vance was a proud, vocal Ohio State football supporter throughout his political career as a former state senator.

Vance even joked about skipping Monday’s commencement when the Buckeyes took on Notre Dame in Atlanta.

“We hope that everyone is good with me so that I can go to the graduation national title game.” Vance joked in a post on social media.

During the campaign, Vance said his loyalty to Trump could hurt the Buckeyes’ chances of winning the key state of Michigan.

“When he first asked me to be VP, I was like, ‘Well, you know, let’s hope we don’t lose Michigan by 900 votes, because you’re going to regret it.’ “Because it’s probably only a thousand p. —ed-off for Wolverine fans who don’t vote for Bucky,” Vance said during an appearance on OutKick. “The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show”.

But I think most Michiganders can put the sports rivalry aside and put the country first, which of course we all believe is the most important thing.

The Democratic National Committee tried to use Vance’s ties to Ohio State in a campaign strategy in Michigan in early September. The DNC flew a plane over a Michigan football game on Sept. 7 with a banner reading “JD Vance (likes) Ohio State (plus) Project 2025.”

However, the Trump-Vance ticket ended up easily carrying Michigan.
