ICC Chairman Jay Shah and former batsman Sourav Ganguly have joined the newly formed World Cricket Association Advisory Board. The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) World Cricket Committee will be replaced by an advisory board, focusing on how to navigate cricket’s evolving landscape.
Jay Shah was not present at the inaugural World Cricket Connect held last year at Lord’s which brought together more than 100 key figures in the world of cricket. However, he is now one of the 13 founding members of the newly formed World Cricket Connection Advisory Board.

Marylebone Cricket Club has confirmed that World Cricket Connect will be held again in 2025. Following the success of the inaugural event in 2024, this year’s forum will be held before the final of the International Test Championship between South Africa and Australia.
“The inaugural 2024 forum, which has attracted influential figures from all aspects of cricket, will take place ahead of the World Test Championship final between South Africa and Australia,” the MCC wrote in a media release. .
On Thursday, the MCC confirmed that the second edition of World Cricket Connect will take place on June 7 and 8, ahead of the ICC World Test Championship final. Australia and South Africa will face each other in the WTC 2025 final at Lord’s Cricket Ground from June 11 to 15.
The role of world cricket is to connect the advisory board.
The World Cricket Liaison Advisory Board aims to shape and guide the future of the sport by facilitating discussions on strategic issues affecting the growth and success of cricket.
“As the club develops the World Cricket Link concept, it aims to be the leading symposium in the game, facilitating debate on strategic issues in an independent forum and building consensus on ways to ensure cricket’s future success,” the MCC shared. “To achieve this objective, the MCCC has announced the establishment of a new World Cricket Connects Advisory Board. This independent group will shape the annual World Cricket Connects agenda, facilitate discussions at the event and, in turn, increase the opportunity to have a real impact on the health of the game.”
