Varun Chakraborty ended his four-over haul in the second T20I against England at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday (January 25). In the last ball of his spell, the Indian spinner completely bowled Jamie Overton.

The right-arm spinner started the game strongly. After taking 3 wickets in Eden Gardens earlier this week, he bowled Harry Brook beautifully in his second T20I. He conceded only 3 balls in the first match.

In his second over, Varun Chakravarthy made 11 runs. His last two awards proved to be a bit pricey. In the third over, the 33-year-old conceded 12 runs. And he was taken to the cleaners by Brayden Carse on the last finish. England’s Azzurri welcomed him back into the attack by hitting six years.

However, Varun Chakravarty managed to end his spell on a high when he cleaned up Jamie Overton in the fourth over. He was keen on the Indian star and Overton couldn’t pick him. The England player looked to hit the ball wide but it was hit on the inside edge. The ball hit his thigh before crashing into the stumps.

Talking about the match, England finished the match at 165/9 in 20 overs. Just like the first T20I, the visitors were off to a poor start in the second game as well. They lost both their openers – Phil Salt and Ben Duquette – in four overs.

They were reeling at 90/5 at one stage and the 150-run mark looked like a distant dream, especially after captain Jos Buttler’s dismissal for 45, but the likes of Carse (31) and Jamie Smith (22) came up with handy deliveries to power their team to a decent total.

Axar Patel and Chakravarty picked up two wickets each for India. India are leading the tournament after winning the first game by 7 wickets and will look to win the second game to go 2-0.
