Israel launched airstrikes on Yemen’s power plants and ports Houthis news
Benjamin Netanyahu says the Houthis will continue to pay a heavy price for their attacks on Israel.
At least one person has been killed and several others injured after Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes on Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen, local media reported.
The Houthi-affiliated Al Masirah TV channel reported on Friday that airstrikes hit the western Ras Isa and Hodeidah ports, the Heizaz central power station near Sana’a and the Harf Sufyan district of Amran province.
The news channel also announced that one worker was killed and 6 others were injured at the port of Ras Isa.
A worker at the Hezia power plant was among three injured and several houses were damaged in 13 attacks on the plant, Al Masirah reported.
The Israeli military released a statement saying it acknowledged the attack, saying the plant “served as a central source of energy for the Houthi terrorist regime in its military operations.”
“The State of Israel has the right and duty to defend itself,” the statement added, referring to Houthi drone and missile attacks and attacks on ships in the Red Sea believed to be linked to the country.
In recent days, the Houthis have fired three drones at the Israeli commercial center of Tel Aviv and additional drones and missiles at the USS Harry S. Truman, a US aircraft carrier in the Red Sea, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sare said.
Yemeni political analyst Hussein al-Bukhaiti told Al Jazeera that the Israeli military “has no clue where the Yemeni military facilities are,” adding that it is “clear.”
The Houthis said they would continue their attacks on Israel, citing rumors that they could use “a new type of hypersonic missiles” to hit “legitimate targets” such as “their power stations and airfields.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the Houthis are being punished for repeated attacks on his country.
As we promised, the Houthis are and will continue to pay a heavy price for their attacks on us, and they have promised that they will not tolerate any attacks on Israel.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said Israel would “pursue” Houthi leaders.
“The port of Hodeidah is paralyzed, and the port of Ras Isa is on fire – there will be no defense for anyone,” he said in a video statement.
