Police in Oregon say they have arrested the suspects they believe killed a man who went missing nearly three years ago.

Murphy Calvin Henry II, 54, was arrested on Jan. 9 in the slaying of Ryan Staggs, 30. Staggs was last seen in Newport, Oregon on Jan. 31, 2022, and was reported missing the following month.

Despite several tips in the case, nothing has led to Staggs and the Lincoln County District Attorney’s Cold Case Unit “continues to track and develop new information regarding Staggs’ disappearance as of May 2022,” the Newport Police Department said in a statement.

While a search warrant was being executed in the case on Dec. 27, cadaver dogs were “alerted to detect the odor of human remains in topsoil taken from the yard,” but no human remains were found. However, investigators were able to obtain more information and identify additional witnesses.
