ICC Rankings: Rohit Sharma slips further after horror show at BGT. Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah have retained the top spot.

India star Ravindra Jadeja retained his top spot at the top of all Tests in the latest ICC rankings released by the game’s governing body on Wednesday (January 22).

Spin-bowling Allander played the last three Tests of the five-match series against Australia. In the Brisbane Test, Jadeja played a crucial innings of 77 runs, although he was bowled out without a wicket. Besides scoring 19 runs in the Melbourne Test, he picked up 4 wickets including 3 in the first innings.

India’s allrounder ended the series by scoring 39 runs and taking the ball without a wicket in the final Test. Following the show in Australia, he managed to retain his top spot in the ICC rankings. Jadeja sits at the top of the ICC rankings with 400 rating points. Next are South Africa’s Marco Jansen (294) and Bangladesh’s Mihidi Hasan (263).

Among the batsmen, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma paid the price for his dreadful display with the bat in Australia. The right-handed batsman missed the first Test in Perth before playing the next three Tests. He decided not to play in the fifth and final Test in Sydney.

In three Tests, Rohit scored just 31 runs with a top score of 10 runs. After his poor display, Rohit has slipped down one place to 43rd in the ICC’s list of Test batsmen. His teammate and former India captain Virat Kohli is outside the top 25 in the ICC rankings. Kohli, however, moved up one place to 26th.

Pakistan’s Saud Shakeel made huge gains in the final ICC rankings after his impressive performance against the West Indies in the first Test. The left-handed batsman scored 84 runs in the first innings, three points ahead of Steve Smith (9th) and Rishabh Pant (10th).

England star Joe Root tops the ICC Test batsmen rankings with 895 rating points. He is followed by fellow England player Harry Brook (876) and New Zealand star Kane Williamson (867).

Among the bowlers, India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah continues to lead the pack. With a career-best score of 908, Bumrah is at the top of the ICC rankings for Test bowlers. Australia’s Pat Cummins (841) and South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada (837) are next.

Pakistan spinner Noman Ali has earned a spot in the rankings after taking six wickets against the West Indies. He is ranked 10th, while his teammate Sajid Khan also improved his position, climbing 18 places to 23rd.
