GOP Sen. Joni Ernst officially endorses Pete Hegseth for DOD after initial uncertainty

First on FoxSen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, publicly endorsed Pete Hegseth for defense secretary on Tuesday night, despite expressing some initial uncertainty following their first meeting.

“After four years of weakness in the White House, Americans deserve a strong defense secretary,” Ernst said in an exclusive statement to Fox News Digital.

“Our next commander in chief has chosen Pete Hegseth to serve in this role, and after our conversation, hearing from Iowans and doing my work as a United States Senator, I will support President Trump’s pick for Secretary of Defense. The Armed Services Committee, with Pete to create a more lethal fighting force and audit the Pentagon; Ensuring the opportunity for women to fight and maintaining a high standard and electing a high authority to resolve and defend I will do it.
