FCC ends DEI initiatives after Trump’s executive order
President Donald Trump An executive order ending diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs in the federal government was signed on Monday, and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) enforced that directive on Tuesday after a change of presidential administrations.
FCC Chairman Brendan Carr said in a post on X: “The FCC is suspending the introduction of DEI and will focus our work on effectively fulfilling the FCC’s statutory mandate.” Carr added that the FCC no longer includes the promotion of DEI in the agency’s strategic plans.
Carr said in a statement released by the FCC that his reason for ending the agency’s DEI programs, “promotes egregious forms of discrimination that violate the Communications Act and deprive Americans of their right to fair and equal treatment under the law.”
“It also represents a wasteful expenditure of taxpayer resources. However, the FCC joined other private and public sector agencies in introducing discriminatory DEI policies during the Biden administration. Legal proceedings and many other elements of its official work.”
