Germany’s economic growth is critical, the country’s Finance Minister Jörg Kütz told CNBC on Thursday, adding that it must address structural weaknesses.
“We’ve got a revision to the growth forecasts for the IMF,” Cook told CNBC’s Karen Tisso and Steve Sedgwick at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
“The structural weaknesses of our economy absolutely need to be addressed,” he added. “It is very important that we start on the path of economic growth.”
Cooks took over as Germany’s finance minister in November, replacing Christian Lindner, who was ousted by Chancellor Olaf Scholz after months of economic and budget wrangling.
Leinner’s ouster effectively ended Germany’s former ruling coalition, which consisted of Scholes’ Social Democratic Party, Leinner’s Free Democratic Party and the Green Party. This also saw Germany’s national election moved to February 23.
“The choice is just about economics,” Kukiz added.
