Eagles coach gets ‘lazy’ about AJ Brown after caught reading book during game
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Siriani came to the defense of wide receiver AJ Brown after he was criticized for reading a book on the sideline during Sunday’s playoff game.
Brown has been seen reading “Inner Excellence” by Jim Murphy and has stated that he always reads the book after the game to help his mental focus. Sunday night against the Green Bay Packers was just the first time the cameras did it.

Siriani called out the critics in the interview Sports Radio 94 WIP.
“I’m definitely fine,” he said Tuesday. “The crazy thing is he’s been reading this book sideways for a long time. Just this week he saw a camera. Some people pray in between, some guys intercede in between. AJ reads in between.
“Whatever these guys need to do to get their minds in a place where they can play with great detail and great effort, I fully encourage them to do that. I love AJ. He’s a great teammate. I’ve seen Jahan Dotson say things in defense of AJ. And that’s another example of our teammates protecting each other.” I thought it was an example.
Vikings rookie JJ McCarthy shared a cryptic post
“We don’t do any research, and we jump to the conclusion, ‘Oh, it must be bad.’ This is lazy for me. Before jumping to judge the man, everyone should know why he does it because the man AJ Brown is a great, great and good man. I would say without hesitation – the best receiver this town has ever seen… I find it hard to see people approaching him without doing proper research on who the man is and what he does. “
Brown’s reading escapade helped the book jump to the top of Amazon’s bestseller list overnight. All this in the victory over the Packers.
The Eagles could probably use a little more of Brown on the field. He had one catch for 10 yards in the game. It hasn’t had more than five crawlers since December 22.
