The congressional DOGE caucus’ plan to cut government waste is moving into focus after the group’s second closed-door meeting Wednesday.

Caucus leaders are tasking lawmakers with eight task forces focused on different areas of waste management. Those will focus on pensions, social and family safety nets, emergency supplemental funding, energy authorization, homeland security, defense and veterans, labor and government jobs, according to a document seen by Fox News Digital.

Co-Chairs Aaron Bean, R-Fala., and Pete Sessions, R-Texas, urged lawmakers in the chamber to introduce at least one government efficiency-related bill in the 119th Congress.

Republicans release details of closed-door meetings with Doge Musk, Ramaswamy.

Both told Fox News Digital that the caucus is just one of the coordinated efforts the caucus has planned as it seeks to become legislative support for the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy.

“We “The goal is a day where we can legislate, get on the ground and talk to the American people,” Sessions told Fox News Digital.

Bean named the idea “DOGE Days.”

“We’re going to have a day where we have 20, 30 bills and all the DOGE members come forward, boom, hopefully we’re on them,” he said. “We will have great teamwork and great cooperation and motivation.”

Attendees were asked to fill out a survey, a copy of which was obtained by Fox News Digital, indicating which task force they would like to be a part of.

In the closed session, legislators also discussed their own ideas to cut government waste.

Representative Jay Obernolte, R-Calif., has asked Congress for a constitutional amendment to balance the federal budget.

And Rep. Jeff Van Drew, RN.J., proposed ending child tax credit eligibility for illegal immigrants.

“Right now, we’re not careful enough … where illegal aliens get the child tax credit, the child care tax credit. That’s ridiculous. You know, so my point is those are easy things to do, they’re low-hanging fruit. Van Drew said about the meeting. He told Fox News Digital when asked for his comments.

Senator Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, who is leading the DOGE effort through the Senate and attended Wednesday’s House meeting, urged lawmakers there to work with the bipartisan bills in the upper chamber.

Lawmakers are excited about the goals set by Musk and Ramaswamy’s new panel. Appointed by President-elect Trump, the group is an advisory group aimed at recommending where the executive branch can cut government waste.

Bean and Sessions said the group has received more than 15,000 emails, opening a tip line and emailing them.

Bean said he was surprised but excited.

Sessions added, “I’ve got probably 200 letters here that are actually typed, and some of them are typed, so thank you for doing that. I want you to hear from me.” And this is a recognition of Americans who have skin in the game.
