“As the daughter of a West Point graduate and an Army captain who served in Vietnam, I can say that those core goals have been subordinated to progressive political goals,” she continued. “Military academies have given themselves over to ideological indoctrination, their purpose is to produce leaders of mental, intellectual and physical strength who will defend and defend the United States at risk. Sen. Jim Banks, R-Ind., said after the hearing that it was important that Hegseth be vindicated “immediately” and allowed to begin as soon as possible.

“For me, it’s important that he gets to work right away,” Banks told reporters.

“We can’t vote it out of committee until President Trump is President Trump again. So the committee will meet on January 20th and we’ll pass it out of committee…and hopefully it will go to a vote right away. We can’t wait on the floor,” he continued.

After the hearing, several Senate Democrats refused to support Hegseth and said he was unqualified.
