Can Shakur Stevenson, Lomachenko and Tank Davis get in the ring?
Shakur Stevenson revealed his slightly modified three-fight hit list for 2025, saying he’s looking for these fighters this year:
- Floyd Schofield: * It’s already scheduled
- Vasily Lomachnko
- Gervonta Davis
WBC lightweight champion Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs) is defending against Riyad Schofield (18-0, 12 KOs) on February 22. If Shakur wins that fight, it’s unclear who his second matchup in 2025 will be. He was saying he wanted to fight William Zepeda, but he changed his tune and hopes to fight Vassily Lomachenko.
Shakur’s vision
“Lomachenko and then tank,” Shakur Stevenson told Ariel Helwani. Channel Who he wants to fight after his match with Kid Austin in 2025. “I’m not very confident. I think he’s scared,” Shakur said when asked how confident he is about fighting Lomachenko. “I backed him off a little bit, and I think he’s been scared ever since.
“They’re definitely going to get in the way. So, my hopes are pretty low,” Shakur said of Top Rank interfering in a fight between him and Lomachenko. “With the Turk, I think he can do a lot of things. Hopefully he can.”
“Zepeda. He’s a good fighter,” Stevenson said when asked who his second fight would be if he can’t get Lomachenko in 2025. “I’d love to beat him. He’s been running away from me for a minute. So I’m very skeptical about that fight.”
I don’t know why Shakur mentioned Lomachenko. Runner has already made it clear that he has no interest in fighting someone who has no fans, especially outside of his hometown of Newark. If Loma fights again, it will likely be against Jervonta Davis because that’s the biggest payday he’ll ever get. He doesn’t waste time on Shakur, who isn’t attractive and isn’t coming to fight.
The role of the villian
Shakur’s popularity is based on his acceptance of the role of the villain, but he is not fun to watch and never will be. Its all about using the old one Mayweather’s striking and striking style; Don’t take risks and win rounds by landing the least number of pots. Stevenson focuses 90% on defense and doesn’t throw a lot of punches because he misses after throwing one shot.
“He doesn’t want to share the spotlight. When asked my name, he looked very upset. He’s got to live with me until he fights me,” Shakur said during an interview with Gervonta Davis when asked why he was upset about fighting him.
Most of the time when a tank is asked about Shakur, it’s when he’s already in a fight or just finished wrestling someone. The interviewers walk away from the lecture by mentioning Shakur’s name, which is no stranger to the subject. Of course it upsets Tank because Stevenson is irrelevant to what’s going on. Also, Shakur is no good to anyone and never fights. He seemed bored with the fight. Why would a tank want to fight such a warrior?
Tank: The ultimate goal
“If he feels that way, I feel like we have to fight. Get it off your chest. If only because that fight has been a dream of mine for so long, I’m really upset. I am ready to show the world who I am just by beating him. “Yes, I was very upset, but I didn’t need him,” Shakur said.
Instead of using Tank Davis to increase his popularity, Stevenson should carve his way. There are plenty of fighters at 135, 140, 147 and 154 for Shakur to fight to become a star. He doesn’t need the help of a tank. If you’re ambitious, why not take on these fighters: Andy Cruz, Jaron Ennis, Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney, Virgil Ortiz, Bakram Murtazaliev and Serhii Bohachuk?
If Shakur is willing to take risks in his career, he doesn’t need Tank Davis to encourage him. Between 135 and 154, there are many fighters that Stevenson can fight to turn himself into a star. It takes courage, skill and a willingness to participate. Shakur is lacking in all three categories.
