Brony James is the first child of NBA great LeBron James who has focused on the 20-year-old rookie.

In October, Broney was part of history when he checked out and played with his dad at the Los Angeles Lakers’ season opener. It marked the first active father-son duo in league history. Shortly after his NBA debut, the Lakers announced that James Jr. would be splitting his time between the NBA franchise and their G League affiliate – the South Bay Lakers.

Broney doesn’t travel with the team for road games, but he was on hand for the South Bay game against Rip City Remix — the G League affiliate of the Portland Trail Blazers — on Jan. 24 in El Segundo, Calif. On Friday, he finished with a career-best 31 points in South Bay’s 122-110 victory.

A screen from center Christian Koloko allowed James to take the dribble and lay a highlight reel-worthy dunk over Rip City’s Sterling Manely. A bunt tied the game and sparked a 9-4 South Bay run.

James talked about his confidence after the game.

“It’s just to get my confidence back,” James told reporters in an on-court interview. “I’m just trying to play my game. Learn from every game. When I’m not playing in the G League, learn from the Lakers, learn from the vets and keep trying to be myself. This is working recently. I am happy with my results.”
