Companies that neglect employee mental health may be self-destructive, new research shows.

Adults with social anxiety and depression are just as likely to have fewer hours, as A recent study Published in Psychiatric Research and Clinical Practice.

The researchers analyzed the data of 250 adults in their 180s with social anxiety disorder. During the 52-week period, each of the participants was able to coordinate their hours and track their stress on how many hours they worked and how late they were.

Nathaniel, a clinical psychologist and lecturer at Harvard Medical School, who works with both women and their employees in poor mental health. Depression and anxiety are treated, but both people do it differently.

“The experiences that come with your suffering are isolation and avoidance and limitation of opportunities to improve in a positive way,” she said.

Working out can provide some protection that is often overlooked.

“Work has a protective effect on our mental health,” she said. “Working in general is good from a mental health perspective. It gives us structure to our lives, it gives us something, it gives us the opportunity to communicate with other people, not to have an income.”
